Tractor and Machinery Operator

Gavins is seeking Tractor and Machinery Operators to join our agricultural contracting team for the coming season from September 2021 through April 2022. We have a number of junior, intermediate and senior, fixed term and permanent positions available.

These roles will predominantly involve operating machinery on farms throughout the greater Waikato region. There will be opportunities to operate a range of tractors, implements and machinery.

The ideal candidate will enjoy being part of a team, be teachable, flexible, motivated and have a can-do attitude. A good level of physical fitness, mechanical understanding and desire to learn new skills are a minimum for these roles.

We are particularly interested in experienced candidates with agricultural or mechanical qualifications, experience operating tractors in a contracting environment and young people raised on farms.

We require:

• Operators with a passion for farming and agricultural machinery.

• Skilled operators with agricultural contracting experience.

• Must be comfortable working in both a team environment and alone.

• Honesty, punctuality, and commitment to serving our Waikato farmers is a must.

• Accurate record and time keeping skill required.

• Willing and able to work extended hours when required during busy periods.

• Knowledge of John Deere & Fendt tractors.

• Good understanding of general machinery servicing with ability and willingness to maintain tractors and other implements on a daily basis.

• Experience with Green Star and Trimble guidance systems is an advantage but not essential.
